5/15/14: Living Below the Line

From May 12th to May 16th, Christine made a bumblingly awkward project of semi-participating in the Live Below the Line challenge.  Here’s the text of the blog she placed in her account, (once she belatedly discovered that she was supposed to have one).

Here I am.  Day 5.

Greetings All,

I lived below the line this week. This is my last day. I feel a bit foolish. Yet at the same time, this experience, digitally speaking, is a perfect example of the ongoing ineptitude of my battle with the internet. I heard about Live Below the Line from various digital sources, and I poked and prodded them with my mouse, (as I’m want to do with the internet), and I decided I wanted to try. That was last year, and I found out about it after it was over. Everything that I looked at talked about 5 days, and named a specific time frame, all of which matched. Apparently, they were also all UK. I didn’t realize until yesterday, when I actually stumbled across the official website for the first time, that there was an American version, and that I hadn’t missed it this year at all. (I thought I had, because I’d been seeing dates again and we were away on vacation for those dates.)

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is… Please forgive the egregious display of ignorance about this challenge, which I tried, (without knowing I was supposed to make an account first). It can be chalked completely up to my baffling ability to walk into a room and pass thru it, utterly transixed by the leaves surrounding me, without managing to see the forest they’re attached to until after I’ve reached the end and turned around to look back.

I promise that I will do better next time. In the mean time, please check out my video blog, (which I made yesterday. Before I found this website…).

Cheers,

Christine

ps. Lets pretend that the extra 50 cents I didn’t use each day was set aside for housing…
